Microsoft Windows Users: Run the application titled "HISTORY.EXE" on the CD-ROM. FOR BEST PERFORMANCE Screen savers, virus software, Virtual Memory, network, and various background processes can slow down the performance of this CD. Turn them off. TECHNICAL NOTES All audio files are 8 bit 11 kHz to accomodate a wide range of platforms. All movie files are 16 bit color. The movies will play on an 8 bit color machine. All pictures are 8 bit color to save CD space and load time. A faster CD-ROM drive will improve performance. Window's users may want to read the file "WINREAD.TXT" if having problems with graphics or sound. Window's users running in 8 bit color mode and experiencing color palette problems should make sure the video card is not using a fixed palette. Window's users should run in 640x480 mode so that text is more legible. Macintosh users may need to free up more system memory if images do not appear or if video movies only play audio. This indicates that QuickTime is starving for memory. Try disabling some extensions and turning off AppleTalk (Chooser). Virtual memory is not a prefered solution. Also, try switching the montior settings to 8 bit (256 colors) if sound and/or video does not play. Macintosh users must be running their machine in 32 bit memory mode. QuickTime 2.1 or higher is required for this CD. Windows users: this CD has been tested with Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, and WIndows 95. Windows NT 3.1 will not work. This program only runs off of CD. BROUGHT TO YOU BY A&B Interactive, Inc.
